For the third year in a row, we’re taking ministry to the streets during Halloween. We’ve tried a few different events for the fall season (check them out here) and the block party has come out a clear winner. This year, we’re moving the party to a new house that is closer to the church. Of course, one of the key elements of a successful party is CANDY! The week before the party, we spend a little time getting the candy bags ready for the party. Care to follow along?
Getting Started
For three weeks, we’ve had a basket sitting outside the Children’s Ministry office asking people to bring in candy.

Make sure you empty it out frequently so people don’t figure out how much candy you already have. Image may be NSFW.

We’ve got four small groups, so we filled up four big containers of non-chocolate and four containers of the good stuff (chocolate). Instructions were in front of the container about how much candy went in each bag.

We also had little business cards with information about our church to include in the bags.

The preschool and kindergarten class formed a type of assembly line. Put a piece in and pass down the bag. As you can see, we’ve got a free preteen helpers in this class — and they do a great job!

A few kids were designated card separators. Even with perforations, this job took some concentration!

After the bags were packed with candy and a card, we put them in bins and got them ready to bring to the party house!
Stay tuned for more posts on the party including getting the games ready and pictures from the big night!
